The River in Me

SYNOPSIS

Running through the history of the Chinese nation for centuries, the Yellow River still flows in the veins of its people. In stunning panoramic view of the river basin and close distance of human landscape, the camera follows the creative footprint of Su Yang, an influential contemporary musician devoted to preserving the folk song heritage by mixing in western Rock & Roll elements. His exchange with traditional artists of Qin Opera, shadow puppetry, Hua’er and Shaanbei storytelling shows how the music culture along the river inspires his artistic work – an ode of nostalgia, humanity and social satire, and a hymn for the future.
